  1. You're an inspiration, Murph! My wife quit earlier this month. To support her, and to remove any temptation, I started going outside to partake. That lasted a couple days... I was spending more time out in the heat than I was spending in the AC. I decided to quit too. It's been 1 week. I haven't saved any money though.... my grocery bill went up $40 and I've gained 10 pounds.

  2. How comfortable are you with doubt?.

Does your "belief system" involve "black and white truths", or "shades of gray"?

Whichever you choose, do you know "why" you are the way you are?

Do you consider "certainty" a strength? a weakness? something else?

Doubt used to haunt me, but hasn't bothered me since I discovered the Truth.

My belief contains pure black and white "truths" that advise that I restrict and govern my thoughts and actions accordingly. There is no "Right" that could be "Wrong". No "Wrong" that may be "Right."

Though I am puzzled as to why the path that led me to where I am now wandered so far afield, the absolute certainty of my relationship with my Creator answers the "Why am I here?" question.

Certainty in my beliefs is comforting, and lends me strength to continue when I am weak.

  3. Might want to re-read the acticle and get the real info vs the headline.

Maybe you should have read the whole article.

"One reason the group believes the uranium-thorium estimates to be more accurate than carbon dating is that they produce better matches between known changes in the Earth's orbit and changes in global glaciation.

According to carbon dating of fossil animals and plants, the spreading and receding of great ice sheets lagged behind orbital changes by several thousand years, a delay that scientists found hard to explain. But Dr. Richard G. Fairbanks, a member of the Lamont-Doherty group, said that if the dates of glaciation were determined using the uranium-thorium method, the delay - and the puzzle - disappeared.

The group theorizes that large errors in carbon dating result from fluctuations in the amount of carbon 14 in the air. Changes in the Earth's magnetic field would change the deflection of cosmic-ray particles streaming toward the Earth from the Sun. Carbon 14 is thought to be mainly a product of bombardment of the atmosphere by cosmic rays, so cosmic ray intensity would affect the amount of carbon 14 in the environment at any given time. The Lamont-Doherty group says uranium-thorium dating not only is more precise than carbon dating in some cases, but also can be used to date much older objects.Carbon dating is unreliable for objects older than about 30,000 years, but uranium-thorium dating may be possible for objects up to half a million years old, Dr. Zindler said."

  4. You mentioned this course in another thread and it piqued my interest. I appreciate your providing the link. I gave the course lessons a quick scan and like what I read. It appears that the only promised miracle is in the change of one's perspective to recognize our intimate relationship with the Creator (whether other miracles are possible depends upon our recognition of God's power within ourselves). It basically echos what I have always believed. I started the course today. Thanks again!

  5. Interesting dream! I wish I could approach the Christ as you did in your dream, mine are not nearly as revealing.

Your interpretation of the dream is (IMO) more important to your spiritual development than anyone else's. I personally believe that the Christ WAS reincarnated many times in many places before he faced the final test. There's a collection of the readings of Edgar Cayce concerning the incarnations of the soul that became the Christ in which he states that He was present from the beginning and appeared first as the original man, Adam (not Cain).

  6. Do you have children?

Yes, I do. We were blessed with 5 kids... 2 girls and 3 boys, who have presented us with 8 grandkids (5 girls, 3 boys), soon to be 10 total, as we're expecting 2 more girls by the end of August.

If so, is this how you describe your parenting role and obiligation?

Yes, I'd say it's an accurate (if abbreviated) account of my perception of my parental responsibility.
