  1. It's only too true that the more you strech your mind to consume the deep and multi-leveled understandings contained within the Urantia papers, the more of it opens upto you.

I'm sure there are those on this board who figure my mind to be all stretched out of shape....

But i recognize the truth of your words and use the same concept for all I read.... it is a facet of UNDERSTANDING, not necessarily applicable strictly to spiritual texts..... leaps occur at every addition to the mind....

a true work of God ......."the alien bible, book of turths".

 you're stepping all over them words i was talking about..... :jest:

  2. Dear Michael,

Your "inner witness" is speaking true...

, and I hope you'll pay attention to that inner witness and keep exploring.

not a problem... My inner witness is loud, obnoxious, and has hold of the wheel..... :jest:

and thank you, Tsukino_Rei, that's pleasant to hear.

  3. this one is (as the old Cajun chef would say) "Guaranteed". I've been playing too much old stuff, this Creed really gets the ladies going. I've gotta rethink things.

Im gonna get some cd's out and refamiliarize myself with them... post a few more for our axe man....

lord, i hope you've not missed this...

( warning: ...... it contains harsh language)

    or the guitar in this.....

put the ladies in a trance.... :inno: ( make plenty of eye contact while pounding out THAT rhythm.... ;) )
  4. Fascinating. I've skimmed some introductory pages on their website. My inner-skeptic is warring with some elements of resonating truth that I gleaned. Some principles at first glance seem true. There appears to be an awful lot of creativity involved as well though. For example - what's with all the made up words? The only information I can find for the etymology of Urantia is written by the creators of the book. What is all this new terminology based on?

Then again it does not itself claim to be an absolute truth, but rather a re-interpretation of truth for a modern age calling on ancient traditions and mystical thought. So I suppose it's best approached as a highly involved and detailed mythopoeia; a story written by men to explore universal truths.

Though I've not read it all yet, so I guess I'll see.

:fear: Holy Vorondadek, that's alot of reading!

    ....

 indeed it is a lot of reading...

I have had reason many times to chase down the roots of certain words.... and it sometimes happens that the words used bring connotations that are unwarranted or unwanted, simply by their accepted usage....

I have meditated upon this fact countless times when searching connections between one spiritual teaching and another...

It has occurred to me, witness the Energetic Healing thread, that at times a truth must be introduced as a NEW thing for the desired idea to be understood.... at times one must avoid what is familiar to the listener to avoid those well worn thought patterns... those connections that happen when certain words are used, which could focus the listeners attention into a slightly different understanding than that which is intended. For instance : what comes to your mind when i say MEDITATION..... you saw a swami didn't you??? :P .... thats kinda what i mean...

I think i get the idea of using " new " words..... In reality though, I kinda think of em more as recycled....This place is older than science thinks...... which could be another use for specific words....

    emalpaiz - perhaps they're underground...waiting for 2012.... :jest:

    mj606 - thanks for the boost... ;)

Michael... - hey, thats my pause... JK... I wonder at Madame Blavatsky's ( Helena Petrovna Blavatsky )possible influence on the text.....

  5. you stung me with that one...although I've now learned how to play it, b e careful, you might be creating a monster. :)

I do like clean guitar..... but I like nearly everything....

this may not be to your taste, but man, This Woman's voice gives me chills....

    or

    or this one

I don't care what you say.... by yourself.... doin dishes.... you WILL find yourself thinkin bout this chick..... she's freaky, but there's SOMETHING about her.....

  6. With the understanding, of course, that the site is a Messianic Jewish site and the scriptural readings include what Messianic Jews like to refer to as Brit Chadashah (New Covenant or, no surprise, New Testament) which you ain't gonna find in a normative synagogue.

does it bother you, that the fact this was a messianic jewish site, would not be immediately noticed by the christians on this board?? And the fact they probably don't know what that means?

how do you feel about Messianic Jews?? only answer if you feel like it RabbiO.... but I am curious.....

  7. I know what you mean. I remember the words to the famous "he who writes upon these walls...." but can't remember any of Joyce Kilmer's "Trees" if he had only wrote in a stall it may have stuck lol

    I still remember Thanatopsis :

So live, that when thy summons comes to join

    The innumerable caravan which moves

To that mysterious realm where each shall take

His chamber in the silent halls of death,

Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,

Scourged by his dungeon; but, sustain'd and soothed

By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,

Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch

About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.

but man..... Beowulf is gone......" here I sit, broken hearted...."

  8. Wow...I can honestly say I have never stopped reading just to prolong an enjoyable reading experience!

I usually get so absorbed I'll read right through it in a couple of sessions.

I have a pretty good memory, and the second reading will not hold any further surprises... If I let myself I would read it in two days... I find my enjoyment in the oddest places... :jest:

  9. Thanks, Sky Brother,

For the info about this book...

Now that you have explained what it is, you have triggered my interest...

I intend to look for it.

i would have trouble explaining how much I am enjoying it.... but I do force myself to put it down so that the reading of it will take longer.... ( I know, goofy... ... but I DO....)

  10. Just got " Legends of the Bible " by Louis Ginzberg

it is an abridgement of Legends of the Jews, which took seventeen years to complete. When Louis Ginzberg died in 1953 he was recognized as the world's scholar in the field of Talmudic learning.... he was honored by Harvard University, who referred to him as a " profound scholar of the laws and legends in Talmudic literature." on the honorary degree they gave him....

I'm excited about this book..... and it was reduced at barnes and noble....

  11. I wonder if we could talk to George now if he would be singing the same songs. Someone should try to channel Carlin!

In a weirdly similar vein, I frequently wonder what Jesus' contemporaries thought of him.... was he that weird, bearded guy who did really weird things? meditating off by himself, saying controversial, argumentative things when he was in public...... Talking about his father in heaven, talking folks into enemas like the aquarian gospel says.....

I wonder at our perspectives when I encounter someone like George Carlin....

  12. I'll have to try the hematite and selenite handling you mentioned. I just wish my selenite didn't weigh about 8 lbs. I have a rather large mineral collection with a little of everything. Even a humungous Melody's Super Seven.

Here's another for the rock hound.... A nice, fair sized, base crystal.... hold it under running water for a few minutes ( tap water is fine ) then set it in the sun for a few days.... when you meditate and have reached your spiritual calm, offer energy to your base crystal.... do this on a regular basis and keep the crystal in a good place ( most feel there should be a dedicated spot in your house for meditation and perhaps setting up a small physical representation of a prayer corner ).

When you are low on energy or stressed for whatever reason, get your base crystal out and set quietly with it in your lap.... Crystals are batteries, and whatever you put into them is available for retreival.... but like a cell phone battery they have a memory, and the more you use it the more potent it will become....

Running water will cleanse any mineral and sunlight will as well... think of that process like erasing any data on the crystal before you upload your own info.... :thumbu:

8 pounds !?! Gee whiz... prolly the equivalent of a radio telescope....... the one i use is about 8 inches long and 1/2 inch thick... and i use magnetized hematite... its more effective...

  13. Are there some items or types of energies which are more important to Reiki than others. Like Minerals and Crystals, sounds, vibrations such as tuning forks and music, thermals or is it more a case of whatever the practitioner and patient are most comfortable using to help them focus their minds?

In Reiki you are using the " base " energy. The energy which is in everything, even the very ether around us.

A Reiki practioner is not taught the usage of other energies.... T'would be redundant, all othere energies are different frequencies of the original source. All can be accomplished with the base energy, and it helps take the desire to direct those energies out of the equation... In Reiki you are just a conduit, taught basic techniques to focus your intention only.. The helpful practitioner does NOT direct the energies, and allows the healing to happen in the manner which aligns the healing with the soul's best and highest good..

Some folks use the natural energy handling abilities of some minerals and other substances to direct certain frequencies ( with a more focussed range of effect )to specific areas for specific effects....

For example, just a quick look at the most beneficial minerals from my experience with healing...

Hematite - though I do not use it for the actual healing, it grounds me when I am handling the energies... and helps me channel more energy.

Selenite - the exact opposite from Hematite. Acts like an antennae for energy when I am feeling low in energy or fuzzyheaded for whatever reason.

I mention these two specifically because most energy workers can immediately feel the effect from both. With hematite in your secondary hand and selenite in your primary hand, begin to channel energies and see what happens.... feels like you are plugged into an outlet....

so fawzo, yes minerals and such are used by energy healers - not necessarily Reiki practitioners... - and they ( with a few exceptions ) act as a filter to achieve a certain frequency of energies... used as most folks use them today - very few effects are realized. One must realize that the Healer is not supposed to be directing the energies to specific effect... There are few indeed who can see enough to do what is in the highest and best interest for the healee.... there just isn't the perspective to know what that is... Energy handlers ( minerals and substances )are best kept to a support role - boosting energy, grounding, increased communication with healers who are assisting from the other side of the veil, etc...

it is rarely in one's best interest to simply flood them with very specific frequencies of energy - goes from helping to encouraging all types of peculiar effects....

not to say there is not a use for energy handlers, but generally speaking, for what they do ( read: are used for ) - colored glass would work as well....

  14. I remember the first time I woke to four foot of snow against my sliding door when I lived in Maine... It was surreal and made worse by the arrival of a half dozen friends by way of snowmobile...

Didn't slow those folks down a bit...... as a matter of fact, their first instinct was " hey, man lets go snowboarding ! ".... but i had to work....... and was supposed to be on time.....

it was the perfect timing to have six friends there tho... they dug me out....
