  1. Yes mark 45, I know. The first story was about bringing the dead back to life. Since then I have just used this thread to post any stories that I run across relating to Christians & the miraculous.
  2. I'm with Dan on this one. I believe a person can be truly saved and have something happen that causes them to no longer want to be a part of the kingdom of God. The one thing I see most often causing a person to turn from God is the loss of a loved one. Because God didn't give that loved one a longer life they become angry at God and turn from Him to anything that is against Him. I believe that when something like this happens a persons salvation can be lost. Romans 11:22 King James Version (KJV) 22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. if thou continue in his goodness. You can make a conscious choice not to continue in grace.
  3. Hi RabbiO, I'm happy to see a new post from you. I have been thinking of you for the last few weeks. I've missed your insight into the Jewish meanings of scripture. Hope you are feeling well and hope to see you becoming active again.
  4. Yes I was deleted by Murph for inactivity once. I probably didn't post for over 6 months. This was probably only about a year or so after joining the forums. I've tried to make sure I post every so often since then.
  5. Hmmmm Two in one day. Has anyone heard about this one? Tim Tebow prays over dead man, man regains pulse.
  6. Glad to see you're still paying attention to this topic cuchulain. These types of stories keep showing up for me. I'm not searching them out. I just happen to run across them in my usual surfing. Here is one I ran across this morning. Miracle man survives explosion and fire that burned 95% of his body, gives glory to God Here is a small excerpt from the story; “There may be one person a year burned over 75 percent of their body and lives,” McDaniel notes. “There may be one person in a lifetime burned over 95 percent of their body and lives. But there is only one in the history of the world burned 95 percent who still has functionality. I am the one.” Today, McDaniel is often invited to conferences featuring burn specialists. “I’m a spectacle for the burn doctors. They can’t explain why I lived,” he adds. His eyes should have melted at 1,200 degrees, but they’re perfect, as clear as crystal. The inside of his nose, mouth, and lungs were not burned. His heart, liver, and kidneys never gave out. Even though his scalp was removed and re-grafted 13 times, his hair is thicker now than it was before the accident. His ears fell off in the hospital, but they are growing back.

  9. I worship wherever I am. In my home, in my shop, in my truck, at church .... really wherever I am when I choose to worship.
  10. Well that's nice and all that Pete but I can't put a lot of faith in what Stephen Barrett thinks. "Donna Ladd, a journalist with The Village Voice, says Barrett relies mostly on negative research to criticize alternative medicine, rejecting most positive case studies as unreliable due to methodological flaws. She further writes that Barrett insists that most alternative therapies simply should be disregarded without further research." I think a lot of others here would agree that Barrett is biased. He dismisses nutritional therapies, acupuncture, herbal therapies, reiki, chiropractic services, homeopathy along with prayer and the laying on of hands. Here is a link showing prayer and a belief in God as being effective. An exhaustive analysis of more than 1,500 reputable medical studies “indicates people who are more religious and pray more have better mental and physical health,” Dr. Koenig says. " The proof of the power of prayer is overwhelming, says researcher and writer Tom Knox, a one-time atheist who became a regular worshiper after doing in-depth study of the medical benefits of faith." "Research at San Francisco General Hospital looked at the effect of prayer on 393 cardiac patients. Half were prayed for by strangers who had only the patients’ names. Those patients had fewer complications, fewer cases of pneumonia, and needed less drug treatment. They also got better quicker and left the hospital earlier." While I am sure this won't convince you to think other than you already do I am also sure that for every link you can provide saying prayer doesn't work I can post a link showing that it does. It all boils down to what do you choose to believe.
  11. Thanks Pete. I agree, I don't think any of us are idiots either.
  12. While making my last post I mentioned Brother Oral Roberts. The Holy spirit brought to memory that fact that Brother Roberts had a miracle healing himself over a decade before he started his ministry. At seventeen years of age he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was bedridden for more than five months. He was totally healed of this and his stuttering in July 1935 at a tent revival conducted by evangelist George W. Moncey in Ada, Oklahoma. I know that's not in numbers but I just thought it would be worth mentioning.
  13. I still believe God can and does still perform miracles today if He chooses, but He does not give people that ability any more, those gifts served their purpose and have ceased. The new quoting function is wacky........ Ok so it's not that you don't believe that God can and will and does perform miracles, including healing, but rather that you don't believe any man is given the power to do so. Is that correct? If that is the case then i can agree with you . Even Oral Roberts, the most well known faith healer of the 20th century said that it wasn't him that healed, it was God who healed. Let's look at James 5:14-16 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. For me this passage is very clear that we the church, are called to pray over the sick. That prayer is not just to make our conscious feel better, but rather, it is that they may be healed Notice that it didn't say send for one of the Apostles to heal the sick. It says to call for the elders of the church and let them pray over them. It also tells us to pray for one another. To me that is simply saying that the elders of the church should be your first choice when seeking intercessory prayer however all believers should pray for one another that we be healed of any infirmity that may afflict us. I believe that the calling of the elders is because they should be more mature in their faith. Being more mature, and having seen the power of God expressed more than others, the elders faith should be very strong. Never the less, we believers are to pray for one another so that our faith be strengthened. Then it finishes telling us that an effective prayer is a fervent prayer. Simply saying, "Lord heal this person. Amen" in a Ben Stein monotone is not a very fervent and therefore not very effectual prayer. You have to get your spirit involved in the prayer not just your mind. You may need to start your prayer a little cerebrally but as your prayer deepens prayer should come from the guidance of the Holy Spirit leading your spirit. If you are praying for someone it also says the prayer of a righteous man availeth much Full Definition of avail intransitive verb : to be of use or advantage : serve <our best efforts did not avail> transitive verb : to produce or result in as a benefit or advantage : gain <his efforts availed him nothing> or in other words ..... the prayer of a righteous man will produce an abundant benefit or advantage. Before you remind me of Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: or Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. (which is where "it is written") let me say that in myself I am not righteous. However, according to 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. In Christ we have been made the righteousness of God. Therefore everyone who is in Christ is righteous.
  14. Hi Pete. If you look at the verses I posted you'll see that the first four are well before the disciples. Also, nowhere does the New Testament say that the is a specific amount of time that miracles were going to be around or that they would stop. Even so I have heard many who, like Dan, believe that healing ended in the first century, yet the Bilbe clearly tells us that we believers are disciples. John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. During the late '60s and into the mid '70s i remember being in many services where instantaneous, miraculous healings occurred. I will admit that I haven't seen it recently, but I do hear of it happening still. There are other reasons besides a lack of faith that can delay or stop healing from coming. However without faith a miracle is not likely (IMO). Hebrews 11:6 tells us And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. I had a cousin who was a "good Christian" who died of cancer even though she believed in the healing power of God. I cannot say with any certainty why some receive their healing while others do not. As for me I will continue to believe the Bible which tells me in Exodus 15:25 " I am the Lord that healeth thee." I saw an article the other day which showed prayer to be a factor in healing. I have lost the link but it said that in a clinical study in Russia (a decidedly atheistic country) people who prayed and were prayed over healed quicker than those who did not pray and were not prayed over. Thank you for allowing me to pray for you. I have prayed for you. Remember Hebrews 11:6 .... believe that He exists.
  15. Are you saying the Bible is wrong Dan? Exodus 23:25 And you shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless your bread, and your water; and I will take sickness away from the middle of you. Psalms 103:3 Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; Psalms 107:20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, said the LORD; because they called you an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeks after. Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.
  16. I've been seeing the trailer for a movie coming out mid March called Miracles From Heaven. It appears to be based on the true story of a little girl who was miraculously healed of an incurable disease after surviving a fall of 30ft without sustaining any major injuries. Trailer here for Miracles From Heaven.
  17. Actually cuchulain, I often see others on these forums saying things like, "why don't we ever hear about these miracles your God is supposed to perform". When that first video crossed my facebook I just thought I'd post it here so that anyone who was interested could hear about it. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. When the second video shows up a few days later I thought it would go well in this topic. It's a shame I can't change the title of the thread (maybe YHVH's modern miracles) but it's not that big of a deal to me. Basically this is just me saying the reports are out there if a person is willing to pay attention when they surface. Certainly these types of stories aren't what the mainstream media focuses on. None the less stories like these are out there, some never going beyond the people directly involved. Mark 45, as I said to cuchulain, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. Nor am I trying to prove anything other than these kinds of things are out there for those willing to receive them. If you don't believe in angels that's fine for you.
  18. I like to post every now and then just so Murph doesn't delete me for inactivity. I ran across this on facebook and I thought some of you might like this one. Bringing the Dead to Life
  19. Well I haven't stopped by for a while. I don't think I like the new look very much. It just doesn't seem as well organized. It may take some getting used to.
  20. Let's try something different. There is a song on the radio by Matthew West that Illustrates my original point about God has given man dominion over the earth. The song is called "Do Something". It starts like this; I woke up this morning Saw a world full of trouble now Thought, how’d we ever get so far down How’s it ever gonna turn around So I turned my eyes to Heaven I thought, “God, why don’t You do something?” Well, I just couldn’t bear the thought of People living in poverty Children sold into slavery The thought disgusted me So, I shook my fist at Heaven Said, “God, why don’t You do something?” He said, “I did, I created you” Rather than get mad because evil is out there, it is our job to do something about it. We all have the ability to do some good somewhere at some time. It is the choices we all make that determines the state of the world. I may not be able to stop all of the evil in the world. Never the less I can to things to alleviate the bad circumstances of others. When I am able to "do something" I feel Blessed. Not because I am such a wonderful person but because God has Blessed me to be in the position to help others. I thank God for the opportunity to be a blessing to someone else. Not that I never need help myself. Sometimes I need help. I thank God when He sends me the help I need.
