    In biology, nature follows certain patterns. Animals either have fur/hair/whiskers or feathers. Never both. From this, we see that angels, with hair and feathers, are improbable.

    Nature does not have any known examples of combining cold blooded creatures, such as fish -- with warm blooded creatures. This makes the classic mermaid very unlikely.

    The classic giant is theoreticly possible, in my opinion. Having said that, possible does not translate into likely. At some point, a specimen must be produced. Or at least evidence that the creature used to exist. Where is the creature? Where are the bones? Where are the footprints? Where is the fossil? Anything?

    That's cool, we all believe what we believe and accept what we can. The OT laws were necessary to govern God's chosen, they may seem harsh and unloving, but what would have happened without them? God’s love is a balance between justice and mercy. In the absence of justice, evil runs amuck, and what loving God would allow that? The key to understanding God’s love lies in understanding the nature of God's wrath. God requires atonement and restitution for every sin, and this appears to be the unacceptable side of God from the liberal point of view.

    It appears to be the human-constructed side of a false idea of God, actually, from the liberal point of view.

    What it means to believe in the Son is debatable though. If the Son is an actual being present in reality today, and if he is the word written in our hearts, then just listening to our own consciences is believing in the Son. And if he's an actual force at work in the world today then we don't have to agree on the name of that force to respond to the actual presense of that force. A person doesn't have to know the entire history of another person to shake his hand and get to know who that person is at present. Think of how many names a person can have today! Maiden name, married name, nick names, online names, pen-names, professional names...

    God is not incapable of taking on as many names and identities as a human, what would remain consistent is not how he is known or the name he is known by - but rather the character of the word which is written in our hearts.

    What it means to be the son of God is also debatable - considering that the christian scriptures teach that we are all adopted by God and Jesus himself said that his followers would perform greater miracles than he, and that mankind would be as united in God as he was, and that we would sit on the throne of heaven with him. Also, if time is truly non-linear and a great big splodge of NOW which we perceive linearly than we are ALL present at the dawn of creation right NOW and just not aware of it. His purpose is met because he is fully human. Whether he was also fully god becomes irrelevant because however fully god he was we become equally fully god and so godhood just becomes another feature of being human.

    An action becomes immoral when the actor know that the action will do harm to another but does it anyway. I my view morality is intrinsically and inseparatively linked with knowledge and understanding. Giving food to a hungry child is good, because it is intended to be beneficial to them. Giving food which one knows the child is allergic to is immoral, because the consequences are known and it is assumed that when the consequences are known the intent is to do harm. Giving food to a hungry child and accidentally giving them something one did not know they were allergic to is not immoral.

    In China, when all the babies got sick because of the poisoned milk. The parents that bought the milk and fed it to their children were not immoral, because they didn't know that it was harmful They were doing the moral thing in providing for their children. The company did know the harmful effects of what they chose to do, and thus the company actions were immoral.

    The area becomes a bit more grey when a single action will both benefit one person and harm another person. I tend to think that this is almost always also immoral, because the benefit which one person or group of people can expect is financial while the harm that the other person or group of people can expect is physical. But for the sake of argument let's say that a natural disaster is going to hit. Your government has the power to avert that natural disaster but if they do the consequence will be devastation on a mass scale in your neighbouring country. What's the moral thing to do?

    Or, in the case of Winston Churchill - in order to keep secret the knowledge that the German codes had been broken so that it could be used more strategically at a later time he allowed Coventry to be bombed. He knew the bombing was coming and could have warned the people but that would have tipped off the Germans that they'd better start using another code. Churchill was and still is applauded for the decision by both his fellow politicians and by the people. His actions, or inaction, did harm and yet in the balance of things it is considered to have been the right decision and to have done more good than harm.

    So it just goes to show that concepts of good and harm are also dependent on personal ethics, situation, and often a matter of opinion. As such those who practice harmful medical experimentation on populations, or manipulate world finances to the benefit of the few, need only look to their ethical responsibility to investors, to home lands, to future health benefits, and such. What benefits one country but harms another is moral to the citizens of the country that benefits, and immoral to the citizens of the country it harms. Of course, then we have to concider propoganda - making actions morally acceptable to the citizenry and cloaking consequences. And then there's the question of responsibility, economics uses words like 'invisible elbow' and 'externalities' to describe some of the consequences of the functions of entities within the Global Economy. In war if bombs drop and chemicals spread throughout civilian populations then that's 'collateral'. Somehow these elbows, externalities, and collaterals are concidered acceptable and natural consequences of necessary systems which do more good than harm. But do they do more good than harm or is that just propoganda for the benefit of the populations that benefit most from the destruction? Certainly the corporations have knowledge of the consequences of many of their actions, and when new knowledge comes to light the first instinct is not to confess or make things right - it's to cover their asses against litigation. Likewise, governments are quite concerned with maintaining a positive image of their armies and war efforts at home, so much so that a great deal of effort is put into controlling what information about the damage is getting back to the people. But we all know that everybody knows what happens when bombs laced with radioactive materials, and burning chemicals, are rained down indiscriminately over civilian populations.

    I guess ultimately morality is in the eye of the beholder.

    If the Anakim were tall compared to the Hebrews, how tall were the Hebrews? Based on ancient Hebrew skeletons excavated at archeological digs, the average male's height ranged from 5'5" to 5'7". Since the ancient Hebrews generally saw themselves as smaller than other peoples, the biblical writers often noted unusual height. (For instance Isaiah 18:2,7 described the Ethiopians as a people "tall and smooth." Also, the fact that Saul stood taller than other Israelites was noted in 1 Sam. 10:23) ... King Og of Moab, Deut. 3:11 had a bed measuring 9 cubits long and 4 cubits wide (13 ft by 6 ft) [but that does not mean King Og was the same size as his bed. -- E.T.B.]... The record of the height of Goliath, as mentioned in 1 Sam. 17:4 is not consistent among all the ancient versions of 1 Samuel. The Hebrew records for Goliath say he was 6 cubits and a span (a cubit was roughly 18 inches, a span about 9 inches), so Goliath would be about 9'9" tall. Other ancient versions like the Septuagint lists Goliath at 4 cubits and a span, which would make Goliath closer to 6'9" in height. Josephus in his Antiquities of the Jews says Goliath was about 6'8", which would still be considered a giant among the Hebrew people. However, the description of the weight of Goliath's armor suggests a much larger man than even a 7 foot tall individual to carry such weight. His bronze coat weighed "5,000 shekels," an astounding 125 pounds. [Of course, speaking of the number "5,000" as in the afore mentioned weight of "5,000" shekels, it must be kept in mind that the Hebrew authors were prone to rounding off and probably exaggerating them, which was common in the ancient world regarding the numbers of people and booty captured during wars. It can also be seen the case of enemies killed by Hebrews in battle as mentioned in the book of Judges, featuring reports of "500" or "600" or even "1000" enemies all killed by one Hebrew in a single fight, the Hebrew only using either an ox goad, a spear, or even the jawbone of an ass. Elsewhere in the Bible, King David leaves his son a huge rounded off number of pounds of gold and silver in order to build a temple, but the number given in the Bible is so huge it's nearly enough to nearly fill a modern day Fort Knox, which seems unusual for a relatively small kingdom in the ancient world that didn't have modern mining techniques.     ED: So where are the truly gigantic human bones? Can you show me one? I have already discussed the Mt. Blanco sculpture of a "giant human femur," but the word, "femur," was not found in the letter they based their scupture upon. So out of the "hundreds" of cases you know about, show me one truly gigantic human bone that is from a human being who was much taller than 9 feet in height. (Big Foot "prints," and Gigantopithecus bones, excluded.)

    The largest-known primate was Gigantopithecus, of the Middle Pleistocene of what is now northern Vietnam and southern China. Males would have stood an estimated 2.74 m 9 ft tall and weighed about 272 kg 600 lb. It is risky, however, to correlate tooth size and jaw depth of primates with their height and body weight, and Gigantopithecus may have had a disproportionately large head, jaws and teeth for his body size. The only remains that have been discovered so far are three partial lower jaws and more than 1,000 teeth.

    It is also notable that malnurishment stunts skeletal growth. The lands where the tall people lived are often described as prosperous and fruitful,so presumably the people living in those civilizations would be well fed. The Israeli had what, mana from heaven and whatever they could forage along the way while they nomaded around? Presumably they didn't have many trading partners since the Bible seems to suggest that everyone other than them was evil. It's hard to make friends while calling everyone evil.

    i was thinking we hadn't even established what to refer to as a giant.... you seem to be focussing on humans.... ok then, well, one of the things i wanted to point out was this...:

    some of the giant skeletons which have been found are examples of fully functioning people who have the usual stresses and strains to the body... some are obviously super tall as the result of something going awry with the body... there are methods to determine this as you apparently know...

    I ask you how does a fifteen foot man, with no abnormalities, excepting the size, fit into your idea of an illness? and how do you explain the sheer numbers of confirmed skeletons found.... one would think there would be one fellow walking around at 15 foot if it was so normal a thing....they'd be one guy in the NBA who simply sat in the center of the court dunkin both goals.... :lol: and if you are suggesting radiation as a cause..... please explain your thinking.... because it doesn't make sense to me....

    and dear friend, if you have followed my posts, you know I am not defending their interesting Christian perspective, merely using the collection of reports they have as a source of leads for research.....

    The last video I posted explains how a tumour pressing on the anterior pituitary gland will cause a constant and abnormally large secretion of growth humans from childhood. The pituitary gland and tumor are not likely to survive the rotting of the flesh off the skeleton. The remaining evidence would be the giantism.

    That said.... at least some of the giant skeleton pictures have been proven to be hoaxes.

    In all likelyhood many of the historical/religious giants were metaphorically tall in stature - as in they were men of status, power, strength. - With only a few suffering actual giantism, and others having giantism incorporated into their legends.

    However, other material describes them as having a "stature tall among the nations" or as simply being "physically well-built".

    Let's think about it. Egyptian hieroglyphs show humans sitting on the laps if giant gods and giant pharoahs. Egyptians were very good at mummification. Wouldn't giant pharoah's have been prime candidates for preservation as they are depicted as wealthy and powerful and having many servants in the hieroglyphs. And yet there are no giant mummies in the British Museum. Just regularly sized icky ones. ICKY! *shudders* I say again. BLECH!

    Even if you do believe that a race of giants once walked the Earth, you can rest assured that these photographs do not depict some of their remains. In their original context as part of a Worth1000 contest, the status of the images as purely fictional "archaeological discoveries" is quite clear. Apparently, however, some unknown prankster stole IronKite's image from its original setting, added some seemingly relevant text, and sent it on its way. Perhaps due largely to the talent of its creator, the image has circulated ever since. In due course, others have apparently added more Worth1000 images to the hoax messages.

    I don't deny that it's perfectly plausable that there was once a community of humans who shared the malady of giantism. It's believed that there was once a community of humans who shared an abnormality which caused thick hair growth all over their bodies - only a few survive. Abnormal genetic variants becoming prevalent within a single community is not unheard of among plants, animals, or humans. In a world where 30 was a ripe old age the early benefits of giantism may well have outweighed the later health defects.

    But they're all human. It's more plausable that these humans were demonized for the purposes of assuring the populus that they were on the morally right side of warfare. By thinking of them as not human it becomes okay to massacre them, even a reason to massacre them.

    And radiation is only used as an example of one thing that will increase the occurences of birth defects in an area so that the various possibilities are more visible and able to be studied - as opposed to waiting for an otherwise rare natural occurence. Two faced, multi-armed babies do not naturally happen often. If a couple of these pop up, alongside a bunch of cleft lips, backwards limbs, missing parts, enlarged heads....all in one village in the same couple of years... odds are HIGH something is messing with the gene pool. The reason I suggest you look into some of these defects is I think you'd be surprised at the variety of what human beings can and have looked like - and perhaps begin to compare some of what you see to legends of monsters and deities, or curses and blessings, in various past communities. When the occurences were rare then it certainly must have been easy to deny that these were human - and think that surely a god or demon, or fallen angel, or an elf must have intervened. If it's not human then the human community is absolved of the responsibility of care.

    Now, I've been following this website as it has been developing for years now, and I have found some very interesting leads to stories here... These folks have done a huge amount of research for all this information ( to gather the stories, i mean..) and some of this stuff is flat out fascinating as you do your research and begin to find out there is truth in some of it ( i have hopes that much of it is... but i don't have that much time to check it all... )

    The point of giving you this link is to bring some of these topics out into the open... there is so much information on this site, it should be fairly easy to find a viewpoint on one of the topics covered and share or ask for opinions...

    Christians generally believe that there were apes and there were men in the past. Evolutionists are not willing to accept that there existed in the past giant versions of modern man because there is no evolutionary explanation for their existence, just as there is no real attempt to explain giant versions of modern day animals.

    These are sweeping and untrue statements. There are more people than Christians who take an interest in stories of giants, more cultures than Christian that have stories of giants, and of course there are theoretical evolutionary explanations for their theoretical existence just as there are explanations for any abnormally large modern mammals, fish, bugs, and humans.

    These are well known, well documented, well studied phenomenon which have been thoroughly dealt with and explained by science. It's common in cats and other creatures as well.

    Polydactyly can occur by itself, or more commonly, as one feature of a syndrome of congenital anomalies.     A bit of research into the results of mass experimentation of humans to study the results of exposing populations to radiation will illuminate some of the truly amazing things that little genetic mistakes will produce.

    People who believe in 'Lizard Men' or aliens have sometimes used as evidence for this pictures of babies that have thick, dark, scaly armourlike skin and totally red bulging eyes. The pictures are real, but they are pictures of babies born with a genetic maladyw which causes them not to shed their skin, the way that the rest of us do. The malady begins and continues in the womb so that when they are born their skin has layered and layered and layered until it is like armour, and it is not maleable so that when they move the armour splits and cracks open, so that bacteria can get in through the cracks. The pressure of all those layers of skins normally flips their eyelids backwards causing the appearance of red, bulging, unnatural eyes. They do very much look like aliens. But they are human and survival past infancy was unheard of until one boy in the states had a rather ingenius doctor try acne cream to return maleability to his skin. Turning the eyelids right required surgery, more than once. The condition is called Harlequin's Disease. We know what it is. We know what causes it. It's not a mystery.

    Now, let's look at Giantism!

    Check out Wadlow! He looks, proportionately alot like the pictures that can be found on Egyptian glyphs of Giants. Imagine a dwarf on the lap of a giant.

    There is no reason to believe that these abnormalities wouldn't have been even more common during early human development, if not equally common. Particularly as, as the author of OOPARTS points out, giantism in some mythologies has been associated with other genetic abnormalities such as polydactylism.

    That said - if this is used as evidence for christianity then it also has to be used as evidence for all the other religions and cultures who incorporate fantastic stories of giants. And the Norse have dwarfism on their side too!

    Another rare genetic abnormality is progeria, which appears as rapid aging. -

    This and other genetic conditions such as AUTISM or BRAIN DISORDERS were once seen in Europe as evidence of fairies and changelings.

    Simply being in the Astral without a spiritual understand of exactly what the astral IS..... THAT i would say, is the most dangerous aspect..... could lead to a very great misunderstanding....

    folks think that when they leave their body ( with no definite positive intention ) they are in " Heaven " or something.... not even close... The Astral is the unfinished creations that have accumulated since men have been incarnating on this planet.... It is a tricky, messy, place.... one needs a spiritual understanding to even successfully navigate this place.... one could find themselves mired in a set of circumstances that is no more " real " than a dream.... and they would fully believe it, for they've seen it with their own eyes.... they just don't realize it's no more " true " than a bit of random dream they have stumbled across....

    I have said, in other threads, that individuals vibrate at a rate which is appropriate for them.... this level of vibration must be of a certain height to even have a chance of escaping the Astral.....

    Spiritual Studies Must come first for any useful experience... USEFUL experience.......
