It will be interesting to see whether that information is redacted from the case file when this information is posted by "you know who" or whether he will attempt to usurp credit for this victory as with everything else.
Actually, No, I don't "know who", Brother Kevin. Could you please educate me ? ( private message OK)

Thank you, to the Hensleys, both past and present, to our moderators, to our forum members (current, past and future), to all who are members of this fine organization, and to all those who simply wish us well

Did your quest include the Church of the FSM* ??
Infinitely more attractive, IMHO, than any of those just mentioned above!!

I like to post every now and then just so Murph doesn't delete me for inactivity.
Would Murph really do that?? I haven't posted in a long time.

Actually, Jesus said that the kingdom of God would appear in that era... That didn't happen then and it hasn't happened yet.
Well, that depends upon your understanding (btw, I would be the last one to uphold any bible verse "as a prediction", but nevertheless). Consider logion 113 from the Layton Translation of The Gospel of Thomas (my favorite gospel, and one which is at least as old as Matthew):
(113) His disciples said to him, "When is the kingdom going to come?" <Jesus said>, "It is not by being waited for that it is going to come. They are not going to say, 'Here it is' or 'There it is.' Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out over the earth, and people do not see it."

Once again, evil only exists in a religious context. Without religion one is only behaving badly and in conflict with the laws of the society in which one lives.
I see this a bit differently. I "believe" that evil exists, but not as "an article of faith". I don't think that I have any articles of faith, in religious terms, that is. I have, of course, many secular articles of faith, such as "the sun will rise tomorrow" for example. I see "belief" in good and evil as more a matter of philosophy.

Perhaps, out of irony, we should start the Church of Common Sense, since, inevitably, people often get that wrong, too. We'll call the congregation, "Commoners." Haha
I think we have already seen this, at least twice that I can readily think of (in addition to the ULC, of course!) : the Unitarian Universalist and Quaker paths.

Coolhand, I want to affirm what all the other well-wishers above have said to you.
I am glad that you still feel "welcome and not put-upon" here in the ULC.
Congratulations on having made a difficult decision.Your friend,

Aren't cats wonderful creatures? ... . I'm just not convinced they are aware of their mortality,
which is one item ...(that signifies)...the separation between "animal" and "man".
.
I guess then, that CATS and TEENAGERS fall into the "animal" classification!

Interesting post, Pete...
Thanks for sharing, and thanks for the background information on Barrie Wilson.
I was not familiar with him. -
Sounds like a wonderful journey, scott_edward.
Best of luck and friendship...

By their deeds shall you know them.
You have witnessed their deed.
Those deeds speak volumes.
You already know the answer to your question.
I am sorry.Life isn't fair.
But it is best if we see clearly,... and move on.Blessings, friend.

Yes, their use of the term "monastery" does appear (to me) to be deliberately misleading... "puffery" is what I would call it.... its not illegal, just not particularly truthful (imho).
Querty, if you hang around here long enough, you will discover that several of us actually have a preference for esoteric scriptures, such as the Gnostic Gospels (my particular favorites) and other fragmentary works, such as the Gospel of Peter. Personally I have only a passing interest in the canonical gospels (other than Mark), and almost no interest at all in the Jewish criptures that are typically called the Old Testament. You will find all kinds of bedfellows here... some may be to your liking... and others, not so much.

Robin Williams. I, like many others, thank you. You have filled not only my childhood, but my adulthood with laughs, wonder, and enjoyment.
Well spoken, newbie ! Welcome to the sandbox

...We tried the kindness of strangers thing long enough to know it doesn't work.
Also, you must admit that welfare wasn't the only change in US policy around that time. International warfare, led to seeking and trying to maintain superpower status, a long and expensive cold war, and some pretty creative neo imperialism certainly helped drain the coffers.

I never said do not challenge them. I just felt the sorry for your loss was a powerful approach. I personally do not mind if people see me as someone who does not like Westboro or their message. They are banned from coming to the UK and I am not sorry for that.

Noctulius, I am so sorry for what you are facing where you live. This is NOT your fault.
There SHOULD BE programs AND Healthcare available to everyone in this country who is working,
yet is not able to earn enough to survive. You SHOULDN'T be going through this. Unfortunately,
you live in a State that does very little for the neediest of its citizens.
I know that this is "easy for me to say", but if I were you, I would MOVE to a more "progressive" State. Mississippi is one of those Republican-governed States that has refused the "free money" that President Obama has offered for expanded Medicaid. Expanded Medicaid would have provided YOU with FREE healthcare. I don't care if you are a Republican, a Democrat, Independent, or whatever... you still need TO KNOW what the various policies of each political Party are DOING TO YOU, and you should make your political decisions accordingly.
I wish you only the best, and I hope you realize that you are welcome... really welcome... here.
Your friend, Hex

Does anyone mind if I go off-topic for a moment? I have just logged-on after an absence of several years, and am wondering who is maintaining the forum site. In order to log-on I had to enter both my user name and password, and at each of these steps I was warned that the site was insecure, and that anyone could see what I was entering. Is anyone else troubled by this?
Is there a way to see who is still active ? Thanks for any and all replies to my inquiry.
