  1. My favorite Christmas decorations are a single lit candle in each window and a wreath on the door. Does anyone know what the origins of these traditions were. I disdain most other decorations myself though I know children get much pleasure from the more ostentatious ones.

    Seeing a White Farm House with the candles in the windows and the wreath on the door lifts my spirits to heights that are hard to explain.

  2. Yes, upon repentance all but one sin is forgivable. But God is not mocked and knows the sincerity of a death bed repenter. And yes, vengeance belongs to God, and I think many Christians take solace in knowing that no sin will go unanswered.

    If no sin goes unanswered Daniel then what exactly was the point of the Cross. I thought the blood and death of Yeshua paid the price for all sins for all times.

    Those Christians who would take solace in knowing that no sin goes unanswered would seem to suffer from a lack of love, compassion and empathy for others. But I guess that is what one should expect from a belief system that is built squarely on the concepts of sin, death and guilt.

  3. New -ism I just learned:

    Repristinationism: The tendency to thoughtlessly and mechanically repeat the theology of the past, blindly accepting the beliefs, wording, doctrines and proof passages of prior theologians as primary authority, rather than restudying Scripture afresh.

    hmmm...

    I prefer the word "ignorance"

  4. Good and Evil are relative terms which have no meaning when one is focused on sheer beingness, however having ones focus in the dualistic environment in which the label "Man" has it's existence I would have to say that Mankind minus ego is basically good. The larger and more fearful the ego is that dwells within certain Men and Societies the less good they become.

  5. Perhaps. I believe my son has already done that though....

    I enjoyed that Joe thanks. Did he have any record deals he seemed pretty good?

    So let me get this right, for a believer to tell atheists that their vessels are empty is OK but for an atheist to tell a believer that his vessel is full is not,

    Yes, no bias at all....... :rolleyes:

    I would think the most important part of a vessel is the emptiness within. If it is full one can't pour anything new into it :)

  6. Hyper, I too agree about the "thees and thous." I have recently learned, through the passing of my son, that God is also into hip-hop. Never again will I restrict the work of God through my lack of understanding of His ways which are far above ours. Peace.

    So can we expect your next Open Pulpit to be in Hip Hop.....that would surely interesting :)

  7. Imo, you should be proud because you did the right thing. When some angry idiot is trying to pull your

    car door open, your not the one who's initiating violence. The situation was forced upon you and you took

    a defensive stand. I've always kept a bat, crowbar, or hammer in my car for such occasions, there's too

    many retards out there looking for trouble, so its always good to keep something handy to protect yourself.

    I thought God was suppose to protect us....

    Do not fret because of those who are evil

    or be envious of those who do wrong;

    2
    for like the grass they will soon wither,

    like green plants they will soon die away.

    3
    Trust in the Lord and do good;

    dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

    4
    Take delight in the Lord,

    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

    5
    Commit your way to the Lord;

    trust in him and he will do this:

    6
    He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,

    your vindication like the noonday sun.

    7
    Be still before the Lord

    and wait patiently for him;

    do not fret when people succeed in their ways,

    when they carry out their wicked schemes.

    8
    Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;

    do not fret —it leads only to evil.

    9
    For those who are evil will be destroyed,

    but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

    10
    A little while, and the wicked will be no more;

    though you look for them, they will not be found.

    11
    But the meek will inherit the land

    and enjoy peace and prosperity.

    12
    The wicked plot against the righteous

    and gnash their teeth at them;

    13
    but the Lord laughs at the wicked,

    for he knows their day is coming.

    14
    The wicked draw the sword

    and bend the bow

    to bring down the poor and needy,

    to slay those whose ways are upright.

    15
    But their swords will pierce their own hearts,

    and their bows will be broken.

    16
    Better the little that the righteous have

    than the wealth of many wicked;

    17
    for the power of the wicked will be broken,

    but the Lord upholds the righteous.

    18
    The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,

    and their inheritance will endure forever.

    19
    In times of disaster they will not wither;

    in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

    20
    But the wicked will perish:

    Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,

    they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.

    21
    The wicked borrow and do not repay,

    but the righteous give generously;

    22
    those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,

    but those he curses will be destroyed.

    23
    The Lord makes firm the steps

    of the one who delights in him;

    24
    though he may stumble, he will not fall,

    for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

    25
    I was young and now I am old,

    yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken

    or their children begging bread.

    26
    They are always generous and lend freely;

    their children will be a blessing.

    27
    Turn from evil and do good;

    then you will dwell in the land forever.

    28
    For the Lord loves the just

    and will not forsake his faithful ones.

  8. I just got a copy of the National Wildlife Federation Field Guid to Insecs and Spiders of North America. What a fascinating world that surrounds us and is right under our feet that we try to ignore.

    Awareness of these guys has changed my willingness to just jaunt off the trail at a whims notice any more and a few encounters trying to get good photos has had me itching and feeling buggy for weeks lol

  9. I didn't call anyone anything, its just my opinion that there's little difference between a true pacifist and a coward, in that neither will fight for anything.

    "No human being has greater love than this, that one lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15:13).

    Dan notice that he "laid down his life" he gave it up without a fight....he didn't fight for his friends or his beliefs he merely gave up and laid down and let them beat him to oblivion without even a word to stop it. From your statements in this thread that would make Jesus the biggest coward of them all.
