A few days ago I wasn't paying attention and clicked "something" at the top of the reply box....I quickly noticed by spell check feature was now "off". I've looked at a lot of things including the ofrmat toggle, but don't see anything specific to spell check.

How do I get my little squiggly red underlines back??? :(

thanks,
Al

Nope, just here in forum topic reply box...I have it everywhere else. :dntknw: what I clicked...just wasn't paying attn but I was replying to "Ten years later" and poof...gone.

Figures it would be a "political" topic.. :llol:

Thnx

I don't think Mark was "offering suggestions"...

I think he was asking for information.

Where's the spell check on the forum reply box? I've been having to type my response and then copy/paste it in my word processing program to check my spelling. (I have a fairly large vocabulary, but can't seem to spell words with more than 4 letters. When I checked this post, I had 2 errors, one typo and one mis-spelling..)

Sometimes I am inclined toward dyslexia.

I read Lost Spell Check as:

Lost Check Spell

...and I thought, boy, wouldn't that be a really impishly fun spell to cast against someone...
Make it so they keep losing checks. They wouldn't be able to keep up with their bills, or cash their pay checks.

Get the "Lost Check" Spell,
Now available at a Wicca Supply House Near You !!! ;) :P

Back on topic, Mark is right, what OS/Browser are you using? Spell check isnt a feature of this forum software.

Several browsers have embedded spellcheck that can be enabled/disabled.

Yea Firefox and Google Chrome have the spell check feature and IE doesn't. Al if you're using IESPELL in IE I turned mine off one time like that but could still get it to work through the tools option atop the browser.

hmmm...I use FireFox...(that's "ForeFix" for you Hex :llol: ) and have checked "Tools" and spell check is checked, even unchecked and recjecked...what I said above is what happened, typing away in reply box to "Ten years later", clicked something without really seeing what I did (totally not paying attention) and the little red squiggly lines under one word disappeared...oh well...I don't know, but sure was a BIG help. I hate to make typos as it sure takes away from the content... tut bhen cit ould be must je!

Thanks, hopefully some one will find the mysterious problem...actually, I think I'll do a restore to the day before that happened, maybe something in a Mozilla update just happened to coincide with the timing of posting.

Blessings Be,

Start a reply to someone. After a few words hover your mouse over any word. Right click. Hover over Languages. If English is NOT there, click Add Dictionaries.

Just to put this in a form more folks can understand...

1st make sure you are in a “reply box” to a post. Right click, (the right hand side button of course! :shy: ) after hovering your mouse over (try the middle of the word if nothing happens) any word and a small dialog box should appear that looks something like.....

Undo
Cut
Copy
Paste
Delete

Select All

Check Spelling
Languages ► English/United States
....................................Add Dictionaries...

If the “Check Spelling” is grayed out, or invisible, you'll need to go one down, to “Languages” move cursor to the ► and then to “Add Dictionaries”...it should give you another dialog box to select and add a dictionary. If it is not grayed out, make sure "English/US" has a small dot or check mark next to it on LEFT side of words.

Then, go back to “Check Spelling” and make sure you get the √ next to it. You should then have squiggly red lines under misspelled words in your reply box. A BIG help to all of us good and bad speil-lers!

All credit goes to mdtaylor for making me aware of this little tool, I was completely lost until his expertise came to my aid. Again, thanks MD!!

Blessings of Peace,

I had it happen to me a day or two ago. After I had broken up a long quote to make replies it seemed each time I moved from one quoted section to the next I lost spellcheck. I had to uncheck "Check Spelling" and then recheck it to turn it back on after each move. I didn't realize how much I use it till then.
